Town defender Anthony Charles wasn’t laying any claims to Hatters’ second goal against Wrexham in the FA Trophy on Saturday, writes Mike Simmonds.

With 77 minutes gone, Shaun Whalley’s corner was turned past his own keeper by Red Dragons defender Neil Ashton and despite Charles being in close proximity, the centre half confirmed he hadn’t opened his Town account.

He said: “It was an own goal but players do claim goals that aren’t theres. If I was a forward, I’d probably try and claim it on the dubious goals panel.
