Hatters centre half Mark O'Brien scored the first senior goal of his career for Southport as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Welling in the National League on Saturday.

O’Brien’s finish just before the hour mark saw the Sandgrounders lead 3-0, with Mike Phenix (37) and Josh Thompson (57) also on target.

However, the Wings hit back late on as Michael Bakare made it 3-1, before Sahr Kabba (82) and Ian Gayle (89) rescued the visitors’ an unlikely point.
