Cleverly coup caps a cracking Easter for Academy Luton ABC
Current WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly was in attendance to help showcase the club’s newly-refurbished New Bedford Road gym.
A great day was capped off when a trio of the Academy’s young boxers scored a superb away win at an event hosted by Corby Olympic ABC.

Hide AdUnbeaten Cleverly’s presence sprinkled some stardust on to all the blood, sweat and tears the Academy’s staff and fighters have shed to get the volunteer-run club so far in their four-and-a-half year history.
Bell said: “Nathan was very impressed with the gym. He arrived with Don Charles, the famous boxing trainer, and we showed them around. He said it was amazing.
“It was a superb day all round. The trainer Micky Cantwell turned up and Billy Schwer was also there. Some other clubs came down to do some sparring and we were all kept very busy.
“Everyone is impressed with the way the club is coming forward. Then, to top it off, we had three wins out of three that night as well.”

Hide AdLee McGrath got back to winning ways in his Corby dust-up that was later voted the bout of the night award.
There were also victories for Chris Lawrence and an impressive debut triumph by promising Academy heavyweight Luke Dorsett.
