Two cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Luton as the government considers measures to tackle panic buying.

So far, 244 people have been officially diagnosed with the disease with two confirmed deaths.

Empty shelves are reported in stores across the country as worried customers stockpile hand sanitiser, toilet paper and cleaning supplies as numbers of people in the UK with the virus steadily increase.

Sainsbury’s stores in Oxfordshire and Luton have been raided, along with up-market giant Waitrose, which stated it had seen a huge spike in demand nationally.

The government is reported to be considering relaxing rules around store deliveries to help supermarkets replenish their stock.
