Man arrested on suspicion of murder over woman's death in Luton

Officers were called at around 2am on Tuesday, December 29, over concerns for a woman with a head injury in Chapel Street.
Emergency services attended the scene and the woman in her 50s was taken to hospital, but sadly she died on Wednesday, December 30.

Hide AdFour people were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and were later released.
On Thursday, December 31, police arrested a fifth person - a man in his 40s - on suspicion of murder in connection to the incident.
He has been released under investigation as detectives continue their enquiries.
A post-mortem examination was carried out on Saturday and determined the woman’s cause of death as a head injury. The death is being treated as a suspicious.

Hide AdDetective Inspector Justine Jenkins, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts major crime unit, said: “We have arrested a fifth person following our investigation into the death of a woman in Luton.
"We are exploring all possible options as to how the injury occurred.
