KARATE: LKA juniors make history
Nine of the 10 youngsters were competing for the first time and put on a spirited display of the skills they’ve learnt over the past year.
Jacob Hills (7) won gold in his kata division and was joined by Alexander Phiri (7) on the winner’s podium, who claimed bronze.

Hide AdMegan Booker (8) in only her second competition repeated her previous winning form and took the gold in her kata division.
Fellow squad members Robert Millar (7), Katie Philpott (11), Edvinas Kvalita (8) and Kai Evans (11) all took fourth positions in their final rounds.
The afternoon saw the LKA instructors take to the arena floor, resulting in a further six medals being added to the final tally of nine.
Jamie Pepper (16) and Ryan Parkins (16) bagged the gold and silver medals in their kumite category and the fourth and second places in their kata division.

Hide AdAmy Parkins (20) took the silver medal in her kata division and chief instructor Mark Slattery (25) won silver in kata and bronze in his kumite event.
The club, based at the Inspire: Luton Sports Village in Stopsley, hold three classes each week for students aged six years upwards.
