Town boss ready to push Bakinson this term
The 17-year-old was played in a defensive midfield role during his league debut against Exeter City last season, however, in the recent friendly matches, Bakinson has caught the eye after being deployed in a more attacking, wider role.
Jones said: “He’s got real versatility, as he’s a defensive midfield player, but his athleticism, his understanding, his technique is very impressive.

“He’s a great kid, great to work with, nice to have that freshness and we’ve got a real freshness about the squad.
“Because if you look at the more established players like Pelly Ruddock, Cameron McGeehan, Glen Rea, Jack Marriott, they’re all early 20s.
“Olly Lee’s an older statesmen at 25, so we’ve got a real young, hungry, energetic, enthusiastic squad that want to do well.
“That’s what I want, that’s what I envisaged when I came here, now that’s starting to take shape.
