Luton were knocked out of the FA Cup after a 3-1 defeat at Premier League Chelsea in the fourth round yesterday. Town were 2-0 down inside 20 minutes, Tammy Abraham scoring, but then hit back through Jordan Clark to make a game of it, until Abraham completed his hat-trick late on. To find out how the Hatters players rated on the day, see below.
1. Simon Sluga (STAR MAN): 7.5
Poor clearance led to Chelsea’s controversial first goal and caught out slightly for the second, but if it hadn't been for his reflexes Town would have fallen to a far heavier defeat. Excellent penalty save from Werner too.
2. James Bree: 6
Managed to escape on the right flank to put in the cross that saw Clark turn home to give Luton a lifeline. Few options to do so afterwards as had his hands full with the numerous threats Chelsea possessed.
3. Kal Naismith: 5.5
In for his first Luton start and with the Blues looking so dangerous on their flanks, he was in for a tough 75 minutes. Didn’t really motor back as Abraham made it 1-0 and slow to close James down when he crossed for the second.
4. Tom Lockyer: 6
Out-jumped by Abraham for the second goal as he found Chelsea’s pace and movement upfront tricky to deal with throughout. Did finally manage to keep the England striker quiet until he completed his treble late on.
