Community radio station marks 20 years
The station, formerly known as Luton FM was created in 1997, it has been a platform for students to learn the tricks of the trade and create their own shows. Many of Radio LaB’s alumni has gone on to have successful careers in radio and TV including KISS FM presenters Melvin Odoom and Rickie Heywood-Williams and ITV News presenter Becky Jago.
Radio LaB Coordinator Terry Lee said: “For 20 years, Bedfordshire has been a leader in combining radio theory with broadcast practice thanks to Dr Janey Gordon applying for a broadcast licence in 1997.
“I personally feel privileged to be a part of rich radio history of our establishment. It was fantastic to celebrate alongside students, staff and alumni.”
