59 new coronavirus infections have been confirmed in Luton over the past 24 hours, according to figures from Public Health England.

The total number of cases in the borough now stands at 2,770 (+59).

Yesterday (Tuesday), saw 48 new infections confirmed in Luton.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 2,025 (+51) cases, while Bedford's figure stands at 2,096 (+25).

There have been 789,229 lab-confirmed cases in the UK, up by 26,688 since yesterday.

44,158 deaths have been recorded within 28 days of a positive test, and today another 191 people are reported to have died.
