Coronavirus latest: 12 new cases confirmed in Luton

12 new instances of coronavirus have been confirmed in Luton over the past 24 hours, according to Public Health England figures.

The total number of cases in the borough now stands at 1,932 (+12).

Yesterday (Monday) saw 32 new cases, with 16 on Sunday and nine on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire has 1,485 (+10) cases, while Bedford's figure stands at 1,567 (+17).

There have been 403,551 lab-confirmed cases in the UK, rising by 4,926 since yesterday.

The number of Covid-19 associated UK deaths has been recorded as 41,825 - rising by 37.

Nationally, the death toll has been 'recalculated' by officials using a revised definition of coronavirus-related deaths.

Previously, people in England who died at any stage following a positive test, regardless of the cause of their death, were counted in the figures.

However, there is now a cut off point of 28 days from the first laboratory-confirmed positive coronavirus test.
